Trustee Institute > Overview
The
Healthcare Trustee Institute (HTI) developed out of an increasing
concern from hospital Trustees and CEO’s for the availability
of comprehensive quality training and resources available on a
local and regional basis. The New England Healthcare Assembly
convened an advisory board composed of Trustees, CEO’s,
and consultants to carry out a multi-pronged survey to evaluate
the perceived need and to move on recommendations coming forth
from this evaluation.
Based on feedback
from these constituents, NEHA created HTI. Under recommendations
from the advisory board, input from other state hospital association
experts, and with guidance from Dr. Eric Lister of Ki Associates,
a set of Trustee curricula was developed to offer both individuals
and boards the opportunity to advance their knowledge in areas
that range from quality assurance to hospital finance. Dr. Lister
explains: “As our hospitals are facing ever-increasing financial
pressure, regulatory scrutiny, and consumer expectations, the
job of hospital governance becomes increasingly critical and difficult.
Trustees are expected to be in the know, and in control. HTI has
been established to provide the educational resources that New
England Trustees will need to perform their jobs with confidence.”
In
